Setting up Developer Accounts.

We discuss the need for your own developer account and the process required to get set up with Apple and Google Play.

In order to manage your app, you'll be required to create your own developer account with Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store. This is a requirement of both stores and grants you greater ownership over your community and revenue. Apple Developer account must be an Organization account (not an Individual account). In order to obtain Apple Organization Developer account, you will need to match the following criteria:

  • You need to have a website (Apple requirement)
  • A D-U-N-S number (More information can be found here)(Apply directly here)
  • You need to have an Apple ID account and access to iOS device (iPhone or iPad) in order to set up a 2 factor authentication , which must be enabled before you can apply for Apple Developer account.

For DUNS requirement, you can look up your company info here

You can also easily request your DUNS number from there if you have it and don't know it. The name of your Apple Developer Account must match the name of your company as registered with DUNS, otherwise Apple will not be able to identify you and approve your Apple Organization Developer account application.

You will need to create an account for your business or professional entity. Remember that your developer account will be listed in the app stores, so it's worth considering a professional name.

It costs $99.00 per year to set up an Apple Developer Account, which you can create here: Enrol an Apple Developer Account.

Google offers a developer account for a one-off fee of $25.00 which can be created here: Enrol an Android Developer Account.
